News From the road - March 1, 2009 Somehow God always works all things out for His Glory! Friday night Ron, Charlene, David, Joy and Ronnie had a field trip to see Disney on Ice. We had a great time, but they used that theatrical smoke and Saturday at 4 a.m. Joy woke up with a very sore throat – then at 7 a.m. the soreness was gone – but she had little voice. We prayed through the day on Saturday and headed up to Northville, Michigan for a Chili Cook-Off at the First Baptist Church there. Praise the Lord we made it through the sing – and the Chili! The folks there were great and it was actually fun to see a REAL CHILI COOK-OFF. They actually had judges and gave away ribbons for the winners – I’ve never seen that much Chili in all my life. David was holding Ronnie because he was sleeping and so Joy picked up some MILD Chili for David. Once Ronnie was up – David went up and got himself a bowl of extremely Spicy Chili – that lit him on fire! These folks know how to make Chili. The service that followed was warm as well - as we felt the Spirit of the Lord. Following the service we had a great time of fellowship as folks shared testimonies with us of what God has done in their lives. Sunday we had the a.m. service off and then we headed out to Port Huron for the p.m. service with a group at First Baptist Church in Port Huron. First of all – we must mention that we were driving along in the sunshine and then turned a bend in the road about a mile from the church and suddenly we were attacked by snow. When we pulled into the church parking lot – within 10 minutes the ground was covered… I guess this is what you call Lake effect snow? Now on to how God always works things out for His glory… come Sunday night – Joy had no voice hardly at all… David stepped up and on songs that Joy usually did the verses – he sang the verses – Joy was able to still sing lead in the choruses – when blended with David and Ron it didn’t sound that bad. David actually laughed at Joy at one point in “Just a Little Talk with Jesus” – when Joy sings “now let us”… because her voice cracked! But regardless of our imperfections – God was lifted up and we were able to share His word through song and testimony… thanks to everyone at First Baptist for their patience and understanding and willingness to sit there as we felt we were “winging” the service – but all the while knowing that this was God’s plan to once again show how He can use us unworthy earthen vessels – as broken as we are – for His honor and glory!
